I started realizing recently that family and friends can’t typically tell the difference between a song that took me a month to learn versus a song that took me a day to learn…which is interesting.

That’s true of any non-musicians listening to a player. These “normies,” as Josh calls them, are in completely different head spaces than players, who are obsessed with technique, keeping time, trying to remember the tune, etc.

Comments like this are what I meant with my comment about Gene Simmons above, it is common to read comments about him not being a good bass player but he does what is required for KISS (and puts on a good show), the bass lines are easy to play and a lot of fun too.
