Song 12 - "All Star" by Smashmouth

alright, I’m not out yet, I’ve just been busy… also I started messing with recording, so this is my first “proper” recording using the Scarlett Focusrite with Reaper, then added the pic on Movavi to put it on the tube, thanks to @PamPurrs and @John_E for all the help!!!
This was fun to do, there’s a bunch of poking and trying that I need to do in order to get familiar with the softwares but I was very surprised at how different it sounds from my previous iPhone recordings, this sounds like an actual song, that the bass (my bass :sunglasses: ) belongs in there… I made three copies of the audio with what I felt were High - Neutral - Low bass in volume and this is the neutral, I could have practice the song more but again I was distracted by the whole process… but it turned out decent :+1:

Sounds GREAT @Reo
Great tone indeed!
I think the mix is perfect too.

Glad our session helped.
@PamPurrs and I are still intending to do the video half, just life getting in the way…coming soon.

Sounded really good to me overall.

Soon as in, most likely after the holidays. Meanwhile, ask Santa for lots of gift cards so you can afford all the gear we’re going to recommend

Indeed, free time is no longer free for the rest of the month.

This was the go-to frat party song in college…used to change lyrics to ‘you’re a porn star; get laid.’

Greetings all. So it finally happened, I made it to a song I don’t like, and you’d never know it by the way I dance around while playing it. Wait, do I actually like this song? Decide for yourselves

Well done again @dlamson13
Great tone, timing and dancing around.
Pretty much perfecto.
If I looked away I couldn’t tell I wasn’t listening to the original.
(and ya, didn’t dig this one either)

So this was one of those times when I just couldn’t seem to play it right while recording… but it’s enough already. I’ve really come to dislike this song that I kind of liked when it was just a kind of cheesy song out in the IMG_0192 on Vimeo

Pretty good overall, I don’t hear a lot of wrong until the end.
Maybe your interest in the tune wore out by then, lol.
A bunch of folks didn’t dig this one, esp if they had kids that were into Shrek.

Keep pluckin!

Ha, thanks John! Yeah, everything about it got more doing the song went on

Good one.
I have just done this module so I’ll have to look at it in the 50 songs

So the awesomeness wore off? Nice job getting through this one. Like that tele in the background.

Yeah… somehow all the cheesiness that most smart people are bothered by right away took a while to seep in and bother me.

This one took a couple dozen takes to get it where I liked it enough to call it done. That transitional measure starting Verse 3 kept getting me…

Played with Flea Jazz Bass
Neck Volume 50% - Tone 60%
Bridge Volume 100% - Tone 100%

Darkglass 500v2 amp
Compression 50%
MicroTubes ON
Tone 75%

XLR out into Volt 276 interface
Compression OFF
Vintage OFF
Gain 50%

Original Bass removed with Moises.ai. Audio recorded and mixed with GarageBand. Video recorded with OBS. Finished in iMovie.

Thanks for watching!

I am not allowed by my wife to play this anymore, so this have to be good enough. Hope you like it and give me feedback on what I can do better. Thanks for listening!

Wow what tone!!! Are you removing the original bass? Because this sound insanely perfect! (That’s a compliment).

Ya this one grates on others in the house for sure lol

Thank you so much @John_E had to go for a pick on the Yamaha on this one. Use the bassless version, think I got the tone quite good.

Time to move on before I start hating the song, so this take will have to do.
