I have grown to truly hate this song  I love CCR but this one was never one of my favorites.

Well, here’s my submission for song #2. Took me numerous times to record this and I skipped doing a vocal intro this time as it kept screwing me up.

As with the Pink Floyd recording, original song to the left channel and bass-stripped version + myself to the right.

Overall turned out alright, there’s some timing issues towards the end and my video/audio syncing are not perfect… but close enough and I’m tired of this song. Time to move on!

Are you saying you’re leaving the original bass in one channel? That makes it very difficult for anyone here (or yourself) to evaluate your playing.

If I misunderstood - this sounds great!
If the above is true, can’t really comment as the original bass line is as loud as yours.

Yes, that is correct. In the 2 songs I’ve posted so far, in a DAW I panned left for original song, and panned right for original (minus bass) + my own recording.

I thought it would help hearing both at the same time, personally I can hear the difference… but I can understand how it can make it more difficult. I’ll bring myself forward more in the mix next time, or eliminate the bass from the original entirely. Thanks for the feedback.

I’d take the original bass out entirely and let your playing shine.

Took your suggestion and added link to my original post to audio-only of just backing tracks and me.

Nice job @cheeze_pizza ,
I am a lurker on the forum these days, but I did watch your cover.
Couple of comments I think can help you going forward,

  • try and get some practice using 1 finger per fret, you do use your index, middle & pinky all the time.
This will help you ergonomically, you tend to use different fingers for the same notes as the song starts to move around the fret board.
Besides the little blip at around 1.40 min and another towards the end
You did a good job .
And you look like your grooving along with the music and having fun :+1:
    Cheers Brian

Thanks Brian!

I must admit my ring finger doesn’t get as much use as it should. Good advice my friend! Thanks for checking it out.

What bass are you playing?

You can also practice pairing it with the pinky, gives strenght to fretting with the pinky (which apparently you don’t need, lol) and is a valid technique as well.

Sounded great to me man!
Keep 'em coming!
