Great cover Johnny!
Very well executed and GREAT tone!
Fit in really well.
Very nicely done Johnny!
Sounding great @Johnnyb! Really captures the feel of the tune.
Gather round everyone, put down your shanks for a moment, pour yourselves an enameled mug of pruno - I present my cover of Folsom Prison Blues
Ok maybe the production’s a bit rough in places but the song’s basically there . I would totally recommend using a live version for a cover for the applause at the end.
Very nicely done Ed! Hofner sounds great.
Thanks @JerryP ! I’m not sure why but for some reason the mids and highs are much louder than the bass. Maybe I just need to listen on some better speakers
Sounds great @Ed
My only comment is it sounds like you are rushing the best a bit, maybe laying back a bit would work better.
Thanks
I hear the train a-comin’, it’s rollin’ round the bend, and I aint seen the dun dun, dun dun dun dun dun
Good one @myheadsmt91 !
Nice job on this @myheadsmt91 !!
Howdy!
Here’s my version of this locomotive tune. I found it very hard and I am not 100% pleased with the groove and the feel of what I played. It was a struggle to record this one, not least because of the tuning - thanks for the tips in this thread!
04 Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues
At least my video editing skills have (slightly) improved. Let me know what you think of the audio and the feel.
Cheers,
Antonio
This looks and sounds good to me.
You did a good job on the mix of your bass with the track.
Thanks Stev, I’m happy to hear that.
I made sure to get the audio levels balanced and experimented with some (very) light compression. The U2 track has no compressor on it.
Great job Antonio! I did not hear anything wrong with this.
Nice job.
Bass a bit high in the mix but sounds great.
You might want to note that the notes are not necessarily played staccato as you play them (of course you can play them any way you like), but if sticking to the tune as writeen, there are no pauses in between.
Awesome sauce Antonio! I have to agree with John on the note length, but it doesn’t detract from the song in my opinion.
Another good observation, I used a piece of foam and specifically played staccato. Somewhere along the line I decided that this is what the song needs. Are there any preferences for the challenge submissions?
Good point about how high the bass is in the mix, too. For me to learn about my playing, that’s okay, for listening pleasure, I should mix it lower, I think.
