Song: Sweet Home Alabama
Artist: Lynyrd Skynyrd
Tuning: Standard (EADG)
Turn it up! Good classic tune here. Hitting the ghost notes right was a challenge. I didn’t play them everywhere the tab showed, but sprinkled them throughout. Thanks for checking it out.

Man, I gotta tell you, southern rock is so damn fun to play.
I did Call Me The Breeze a while back and just loved boppin and playin.
Fantastic job here as usual.
Great work yet again. Lynyrd Skynyrd are a good barometer for me. If people don’t like Tuesday’s gone or Gimme three Steps I’ll never give them the time of day ever again
Used to play bass on Gimme Three Steps in my band, back in the day. Really fun tune.
Freeeebbbbiiiirrrrdddd!!!
(Sorry. Somebody had to do it)
Haha, I’m surprised it hasn’t happened sooner
The Southern Rock anthem has been conquered!
Not a perfect rendition as I found getting all the ghost notes in there to be a little challenging. I did find a spot where I could could slip them in pretty consistently so that was awesome. I absolutely love the riff for the second guitar solo and the outro piano section. Lot of fun to play!
One final song awaits me now…
Boy does this sound good!
Looks like our #2 Challenge winner is close at hand.
Well done man!
Thanks dude!
Very good, @cheeze_pizza! I push play and continue to work. My foot starts tapping the beat after just a few seconds – you’re so ready for a band and a stage.
Thanks dude, I need to find some folks to jam out with!
Very nice @Johnnyb!
Great playing.
I think your ghost notes could be a bit more ghosty (percussive vs. tonal).
Something sounds a bit out of wack intonation wise to my ear when you run up the fretboard. Perhaps check your D string intonation up high.
Otherwise, fantastic playing.
Skynyrd is a LOT of fun to play on bass.
Thank you @John_E for your nice words and great feedback. I appreciate it.
Checked the bass and yes I need a new setup, not much, but a little difference going up the neck. Fantastic ears you have, hehe:-)
I also wonder if my playing adds some bad tone as I might be bending a little on the string.
I agree that some of the ghost notes should be more “ghostly”, so that is my bad muting and not how I wanted to do it.
I tried to have a relaxed fretting hand, but I think my thumb is a little high and that angle of the hand could be better sometimes. Also, I think I might be moving my shoulder a bit, but it’s definitely getting better!
Great fun playing this song and we have added it to the setlist, so I will be playing it a lot more. Maybe sometime I can add a live version from a show, that would be fun.
