Spark NEO - Wireless Guitar/Bass Headphones

I must admit I have been looking at this over the last week or so.
I really like the idea, there are a few things I really like about it.
What I don’t like is the cost- fairly expensive in Oz (as is everything nice),
I would like more it if it had the AI Jam.
I also like some of the AI features such as the tone suggestions and the “chord finder”.
I already have a couple of headphone amps and I admit I am looking at wireless headphones to use at the gym but at this point it doesn’t do enough things differently to what I can already do.
I think I will wait for v2-either with the other features added or at a lower cost.

You don’t really need them. My katana go or the mighty plug, both sounds a little bit better with my plugged in Teufel Headphones but since I’ve got the neo, i don’t use anything else. The fact that I don’t need cables anymore is great.

The Katana 110 is my main most used amp out of the four I have and I think its the best sounding of any amp I’ve heard.
The others -

  • Kustom 35, a really good smaller amp, great sound.
  • Yorkville Bass Master 100, also a nice amp, great sound.
  • Fender M-80, maybe to much punch and boom, but makes a cool end table.

The Katana 110, I asked Grok for the settings for different artists sounds and it gave detailed settings for what I wanted. This saved me much knob turning experimenting, I only use a small amount of its potential but it seems like a player could save a lot on gear like pedals having and knowing how to utilize the 110.

The must be new Katana go is finally for sale in my almost local store, is there gas in the car?

I was wondering if anyone who picked this up could comment on any latency when streaming audio with accompanying video (e.g. BassBuzz lessons) to the headphones? Other products I’ve tried in the past like the Mustang Micro had noticeable latency making it hard to follow along, speech out of sync was a bit off-putting etc.

No latency issues at all. The Neo is really good for this type of thing - online lessons where you want to hear the computer audio and your bass. The AI thing is pretty cool too. I haven’t noticed any latency.

just got them today. initial thoughts: easy to set up, easy to use. haven’t dug into the app much yet, but clicked through some presets and found one that worked well for practicing with minimal effort. easy enough to stream songsterr and play over it. it’s a little finicky trying to blend the levels so you’re not drowning out the practice track but also the track not drowning you out. this is no fault of the spark of course, it’s mostly me not being used to headphones practice. I tested the sound quality of the headphones themselves by just listening to some music on them. while they won’t be replacing my usual headphones they certainly also weren’t bad sounding and are more than good enough when you consider their intended use (which is practicing). I do wish it had a form fitted (or any) case for the headphones and transmitter. but just being able to be up and running for practice with minimal time and effort is kind of a game changer. I’m mostly just pissed that I have bought a lot of other gear trying to get this kind of setup. too bad it’s not 6 months ago when I could have sold my boss katana go for a premium

Totally agree! I asked for and got a Spark Go for Christmas and have used it twice. I don’t love it. Had this been available, definitely would have gone this route.

I got a Fender Mustang Micro+ earlier to replace my Vox headphone amp as I hated that one. The Mustang was nice BUT there were only guitar related pedals and such on it. Fender keeps saying they’re going to add more bass stuff but, frankly, that doesn’t help me now. I still like it though as it let’s me use my in-ears and such but I just don’t like the tones (or lack thereof) that I get out of it.

Then, after a couple of White Russians on an empty stomach, I got the NEOs and these are exactly what I’ve been looking for! I can get the tones that I want. I can practice without disturbing others and I can use it for more than just my bass guitar. I’ve been able to practice more and, more importantly, practice how I need to and that made them worth every penny.

White Russians for the win!

fixes everything

It’s like 6am here and it sounds good even right now. Like, I don’t care if there’s any vodka in it, just the flavor sounds good.

a small update that I debated whether or not to comment on. everyone’s setup is different so ymmv. but while not a deal breaker, sitting around jamming at my coffee house I have discovered a really annoying bug. and that is when I am streaming an app and playing along with it, when I close the app the spark frequently loses its Bluetooth connection. so you have to re-open the app, restore the Bluetooth connection and reload your practice preset. if this is something widespread hopefully they will push through a firmware fix.

I envy you. Here in Hamburg the home office hipsters have destroyed that experience for me.
We have an excellent coffee house around the corner, but it was filled with hipsters, drinking one coffee and working for hours.
Now there is a time limit … and it also affects bass players, even though the very funny and even gayer waiter who seems to like me very much (“do you want me sweet or hot, hahaha!?”) cannot let me leave playing longer :frowning:

I have more than 1 piece of gear that was acquired thanks to those damn things.

And I will learn nothing.
