Squire Sonic - Make Yourself Happy

I have five basses. None of them is a p-bass. So, I decided I was missing out and wanted to dip my toe into the water.

I bought a Squre Sonic Precision Bass for $250 (new) and put flatwounds (D’Addario CHROMES) on it.

I believe this might be the most fun you can have for $300. Highly recommended if you want to set aside your Active Jazz Bass and see how great a cheap bass guitar can be.

Who does that?

1st or second bass I get it. But 5 chances to buy a P bass, cmon. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

:joy: fair enough in 2025.

I’ve been owning and buying basses since ‘89 granted not at this rate. I took a 12 year sabbatical till Covid that’s the first time I actually seeking out the elusive P Bass. Back in the day P bass and Jazz bass were never really the thing, at least not like right now. Massive credit to the Fender Marketing department.

Yeah the P-bass was number 6 or 7 for me I think. It was sandwiched between two Yamaha BB’s. I still have the BB, the P-bass has gone to a farm upstate where it can play with all the other good Fenders.

Admittedly, I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed.

You made the right choice in the end and that’s what counts :sunglasses::metal:

This is the way.

I’ve got both flavors of P, standard and reverse. Now I need the double P.

had a similar experience with my Squier Classic Vibe P-Bass—threw on some flats and it instantly became my go-to for laid-back grooves. Amazing how much fun and tone you can get for so little money. Totally agree with your take.
