Sticky rubber strings

I have a new Amahi Ubass that the rubber strings get sticky. Is there anything that can be done to keep this from happening?
I tried using powder but that didn’t work very well. They pretty much just stayed sticky the whole time. It’s frustrating. Any kind of help would be appreciated.

I use this on my ubasses it works pretty well.

I recently put Aquila Thunderbrowns on my U-bass and they are much less sticky than many of the other polyurethane strings. I highly recommend them when you need new strings.
