Stock Strings on Sterling Ray4HH

Hello, everyone. I have a new Ray4HH and I suspect the A string is bad. I have 2 Ray4HHs (1 for each house - lol) and I really dig the stock strings. The Sterling website simply says 45-105, but no other details.

Anyone know what they are? The only Ernie Ball long scale 45-105s I see, are these.

Anyone know if these are the ones?

That would be what I expect they would be yes.

They are EB strings. Caliper them to determine which ones, or, call them.

I replaced the original strings on my Sterling Ray4HH shortly after I bought mine. I kept the original strings and they are barely used. You are welcome to have them if you would like. (No cost to you other than shipping.) Send me a message if you are interested.

I ended up ordering the EB Hybrids from my earlier post. If they’re not the same strings, I’ll take you up on your offer. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m not sure what it is about these strings, but I can pluck much faster and have more control with them compared to my typical strings. However, I love the sound and feel of my typical strings, so I’m not gonna restring my favorites for the EB hybrids when I only play a few songs that need them.

I’m just glad the Ray4HH was the MF SDOTD last week - got it pretty cheap. lol

What are your typical strings?

I use TI flats on my Js and my Ray34, LaBella DTB 39/96s on my Ps, DR Sunbeams on my TRBX and D’Addario Nickel 1/2 rounds on everything else - with the exception of the Ray4HHs.

I like the lower tension feel.

The EB Hybrids are the ones that come with the Ray4HH and the new string fixed my issue.

FWIW, I just put D’Addario ECB81-5 Chromes XL Flatwound on my Ray5HH and digging them so far. I like them better than the factory strings which I presume are just a 5 string variant of those hybrid slinkies.

I’ve tried the 4 string variant on a P. They were too tight for my taste. I replaced them with LaBella DTB 45/105s and I thought those were too tight as well. I finally settled on LaBella DTB 39/96s.

I have the Labella DTB 760FS-S on my short scale P bass. I like them, but you’re right about the tension. I may try their Low tension flats.
