Strings for 5 string medium scale bass

Hey all,

Maybe I’m looking for a unicorn or maybe I’m not looking in the right places but here goes. I’m currently trying to find flat wound strings for a Medium scale 5 string bass. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Wow, Dunlop like your money !

You could try flatwound strings for Hofner violin basses - they are short scale but need medium scale strings to reach the tailpiece
Höfner HCT1133FS Flatwound – Thomann UK

but I like Pyramid Gold strings
Pyramid Chrome-Nickel Flatwound 40-100 Medium Scale - Bass Direct

32”. What kind of bass and what is your main genres?

All of these look interesting but I’m in the U.S. so shipping and other fees would probably make them expensive. I will see if they’re available here

Maybe consider the D’Addario tapewound. I put them on my standard and short scale fretted and Fretless they sound great and less warmth overtones.

Labella makes medium scale flats in both their Deep Talkin Bass and Low Tension. I’ve had both on my 30” short scale. Just put the low tensions on a week ago. I do like them better than the DTB flats as far as stiffness is concerned.

Another option is the D’Addario XL Chrome flats ECB81M. I haven’t tried on short/medium scale, but I have them on my 34” 5 string and I actually really like them.

Thanks, looking as t them. Going to give them a try
