Suggestions on first pedal(s)

Speaking of Zoom, I can attest to the B2 Four as well. Got it a couple weeks ago and it’s been fantastic experimenting with the different presets and effects.

It has a such a massive library of pedal sims that you can emulate nearly any sound you want. I have a couple of minor complaints about it but nothing that would keep me from enjoying it or highly recommending it.

Nice! I hadn’t seen they released a new one. Maybe this is the smaller version of the B6 and shares its models, like the B1four is a smaller B3n (and the B1on and MS60b were the smaller B3’s with the same generation of models).

Yeah, the B2Four is a relatively beefy device, size-wise. About 5 normal pedals wide?

Yeah looks about the same size as the B3n, but smaller than the B6.

More pros ditching amps for modelers:

I’m interested in getting started with pedals/multieffects. On the secondhand market I could currently get a Zoom B3N (CHF 90) or a Zoom B1X Four (CHF 56). Which one makes more sense to get started?
I also play electric violin, are there smart/affordable options that would work for both instruments?

The B3N is basically a more capable B1Xfour with more controls and without the expression pedal. Same generation and software models.

Thanks! Does it make sense to have more controls or the expression pedal to start out? I currently only play on my own at home, mostly standing and after watching the nova twins tiny desk concert I figured it would be fun to have something to stomp on too :joy:

More controls, by far, IMO. It gives you knobs to tweak three effects at a time instead of just one. Less menu diving.

that sounds smart, I’m trying to get the B3N then!
