I like it. It’s plenty loud for my needs. Don’t let the 160 watts advertised fool you. I never knew what the term headroom meant before I bought it. But, I can pretty much max it out with my p-bass without making it do the fart sound thing.
As far as the effects go, I usually use the compression and a little bit of drive. I’ve played around with the other effects and the phaser and envelope filter are fun. I haven’t really gotten into the chorus and octave yet. I did get the Bluetooth and footswitch upgrades. Haven’t programmed the footswitch yet. But the Bluetooth is handy for practice without having to hardwire a device. Work has been keeping me from setting the footswitch. I have a little time this week to do it, hopefully.
Cons
It’s heavy. Not need 2 people heavy, but definitely buy a hand truck heavy if you have to carry it more than across the room.
Like most things made in Asia, the manual leaves a lot to be desired. And you really need to play around with the settings and figure it out on your own.
Also plan on purchasing the cable to upgrade the firmware unless you own one already.
Upgrading the firmware is also a pain if you’re a minimally computer literate genXer like me. They try to scare you with language to make you think it will self destruct if you get it wrong.
Pros
The amp sounds good out of the box.
The amp IS loud enough for the band im playing with. Drums, electric guitar, keys and bass. Mostly country/rock/jam mix. I have both the mids pushed to 3 o’clock, bass at 9, treble at 12. Most of the time, I have the volume at 1 o’clock and the tweeter at 10 o’clock.
The tweeter is an awesome feature too. If you want low mud, turn it off. If you want crispy highs, it’s awesome.
The amp is also gig ready with DI port for backline support. And more plug-ins than I know what to do with.
1 watt feature is great for practicing at home. The sound is way better than either the rumble 15 or markbass 101 that I have.
Honestly, the amp is something that can grow into. Unlike the other 2 that are just practice amps. I dont see myself outgrowing it any time soon. It can stand alone at bar gigs and has the ability to go direct and become a monitor if and when needed. If I ever need more, ill cross that bridge when I get there.
I would buy it again. I would pay full price. I got it for 150 off through sweetwater sale which was also a victory.
Hope this helps.
