Thanks for the tip on this - I’ve been a slacker and still have a few modules to go in B2B; and I have a goal of doing some in-person lessons in the fall. But with TalkingBass 30% off I couldn’t pass that up and grabbed the scale and tone essentials - and was SO close to getting walking bass lines… but I don’t think I’m there yet. Maybe he’ll have another sale in a year.
He has sales periodically for various occasions, you just have to be on the lookout.
Walking basslines was one of my favorites.
Has anyone done the slap courses?
I bought it about a year ago during a sale, but never started it. The only reason I bought it was because it was the only course I hadn’t yet purchased and I didn’t want to miss out on the sale lol.
I have absolutely zero interest in slapping.
A lot of the music I like involves slap bass, so I’d like to try to learn it. It was a bit tricky for me in the B2B course, I could get the E and A strings ok but I just didn’t feel like I got the higher strings very often. It takes a lot of practice I suppose. Well the courses are so cheap, why not! I might get the Walking Bass Line while I’m there. I already have Sight Reading and Chord Tones - they are both really good, so I know he’s a great teacher. I also have a 20% discount code from the swap over - so what is there to lose?
I’m sure it’s a great course.
His stuff is 30% off right now… Can you stack that 20% code on top of the 30?
I’ve done it…
I bought the slap course in the last sale and started it a week or so ago.
it is very good, but it is like starting from scratch and relearning a brand new technique.
it is challenging for sure but no different than when you start out on B2B and try to get your fingers to do things they don’t quite yet want to do.
So I think its a bit frustrating cause now I can play okay enough finger style and expect to be that good on slap but that ain’t how it works.
If you are ok with knowing that, its a great way to learn slap.
Mark is really good at technique and bite size nuggets.
The module I am on now in Vol 1 will take me a few days to tame my fingers on my fretting hand.
Slap is as much about muting in the fretting hand as it is slapping and popping and you really need to get the fretting hand down, which takes time.
Glad I am doing it, I think it will enhance my muting for finger style and for picking for that matter too. Win Win.
Yes, I was able to stack them too. Makes for very good deal at 50% off.
Awesome, thanks for that. I’ll give it a go. I’ll also get the Walking Bass course too while I’m at it. I’ve got a few courses on the go ATM, but I like to be able to work on some different things at the same time. Some are theory oriented and some are technique oriented so it’s a good mix.
You’re getting a 20% discount on an already 30% discounted price. That’s a 44% discount, not 50%. Still good though.
Any hints on when the next sale might be? I’m intrigued and interested in learning more. These look like great courses.
No hints at the moment, but he usually announced them in conjunction with special occasions, so there may be another one coming up around the holidays. I’ll be posting here the moment he announces one.
Excellent! Thank you! I check in over there every once in a while, but as I’m finishing up my 2nd run through B2B I’m eager to keep going. And I’m a sucker for a sale.
Funny example, I was doing a piece on charcuterie a couple of years ago & needed to place an order with a big spice vendor. I realized that if I bumped up my 4oz of sage to the commercial 1lb size, I got better pricing and free shipping. Have you ever seen a pound of sage? The bag was the size of a throw pillow . It was all sage all the time for almost a year. But I got free shipping, so…
No, but I’ve seen a pound of something that resembles sage, but that was back in 70s…
No free shipping there, COD only.
Yep! That’s exactly what it looked like. I was surprised I didn’t have DEA agents on my front porch when the package arrived.
Mark just announced this on one of his live feeds…
“End Of Summer sale starts tomorrow over at the website. All courses will get a 30% discount!”
Did anyone take the “Bassic Fundamentals” class? How would it apply to a B2B graduate?
I don’t mind some overlap, but I’d like to feel like I got enough new material out of it to make it worth the $$…
I already have Scales, Chord Tones and Sight Reading 1 & 2, none of which I’ve started… So why not add another to the list?
Appreciate any input… Thanks…
