Two hits in a row! . . . Great work, @gcancella . .
Nice!
Very nice work @gcancella,
Very movie scorish
and could probably get a run in a Tarintino flick:+1:
Cheers Brian
Very cool @gcancella😎
Cheers Brian
Ha, didn’t see that the other night… You are on a roll, @gcancella! Nice lock with the “drummer” there!!
So here is one I want to take somewhere. Love Justin Chancellor, but don’t tend to go there often in my pieces, but I think his influence is clear here.
Dig it man. You have that jazzy phrasing come out so naturally in your playing! As a listener what would I add or want to hear? You are giving a lot of icing, but not a lot of cake. The melodies are nice, catchy I think they are great. If you could span them out over or following a solid hearty groove it would really tie it all together. Nice playing!
So for an “everything on bass” thing…this isn’t something I’ll probably take anywhere, just some fun. The “drums” are bass here. Did about 4 layers on the looper.
Yes, there’s something definitely there! I liked it
You were totally right, as I already suspected. Fixed the intonation issues with my secondary bass! Well, mostly… The E string still is a few cents off, but I would have to replace the screws for flat tops - as they’re preventing the saddle to go any further, or move the whole bridge a few centimeters down. Thanks for the heads up!
Thanks, @kerushlow - much appreciated! I think you also might have hit on one of my weak spots here: I am quite fond of melodies and might forget about a more hearty groove in the process; potentially a bit dangerous for a fledgling bass player
Yeah, could especially see the first part as a song opener before the adequately overdriven guitar(s) and drums join in!
I’m fiddling with another concept. It’s a bit repetitive as of now, but I like where it’s heading.
It stems from a demo I already shared in the forum (GCA - Sleuth (demo) - YouTube), but it ended up going in a totally different direction than initially anticipated
Thanks @terb for the fx automation tips!

Yeah, this has potential!!
What are using for the drums? They sound awesome!
EZDrums with some midis taken from BeatBuddy and fiddled around just here and there
Sounds like another movie score @gcancella👍
Intriguing
, like the direction it’s heading into:+1:
Cheers Brian
Is that a plug-in for Reaper?? Do you punch them in beat for beat or do you tweak pre-made patterns??
*EZDrummer, sorry
You can either explore their library, use external midi (I’m using the ones that come with BeatBuddy) or make your own.
For the first one (Rust Rider) I grabbed some midis from https://groovemonkee.com/. And then I edit those inside reaper.
Thank you @TNKA36, I appreciate it! Let’s see where this will end up
Yeah I just use Reaper’s MIDI editor myself, haven’t tried using the riffs that come with my drum VST.
EZDrummer looked awesome when I checked it out. I ended up going with Steven Slate Drums 5, which I like a lot, but EZDrummer looked even better.
One I keep wanting to do something with…dark and haunting. The lead melody I’m playing over the chords would make a good vocal melody I think…even have some lyrics to it, (but can’t sing lol).
