Thanks for this @JoshFossgreen I’m always looking for good warm up drills that get me to focus more on my technique. I gone through them all for the first time and they’re great. I’m currently halfway through Module 7 of B2B to give some context to my feedback.
Exercise 1 - I really enjoyed this. A fun rising and falling pattern that is enjoyable to play and helps me not only focus on flying fingers but MVP and not applying fifteen tonnes of pressure with my thumb. Once I’d convinced my brain to stop inserting an extra f sharp after the g in the third bar I was good to go. Why does my brain hate me so?
Exercise 2 - What have I done to upset you? Did I wrong you in a previous life? Seriously though, this is the one I really need. Not just with the finger rolls but with the string crossing/plucking too. A great exercise that will continue to taunt me throughout the small hours.
Exercise 3 - I always thought my muting was on the ‘tremendously disastrous’ end of the spectrum but I’m either getting better or going deaf. Both are equally plausible. This was the easiest of the three as I’ve always muted with both fretting and plucking hands simultaneously where possible, so it gave me a chance to try different muting techniques which was where I discovered my ‘suck zones’
Let’s see how things improve from here.
After that month long November challenge, playing these daily, they are permanently embedded into my brain and I can’t stop playing them, especially the first two exercises!
