Doing MC Escher proud.

MC Escher styles “on a 4 string bass”

I absolutely love the design on that one. Also 4 → 5 string still. ChatGPT is drunk and needs to go home.

Yeah doesn’t have quite the same “rolling dumpster” vibe as the original. Those basses actually look kind of cool.

I get a bit bemused by the fixation on looks. So long as it plays well and isn’t too ugly I’m good. But that Escher one, I would pay good money for. It’s gorgeous. Despite the string numbers!

Feel is definitely #1 for me but looks are in second place for sure.

As I cradle my new to me stingray sub 5, I think the look, feel, but most importantly sound should speak to you. If you like it and it’s joy in your hands you are going to practice more and hopefully have more success.

I’m cheap as it gets so entry level gear is good for now. I have 2 basses but they aren’t neutered so they may reproduce over time

To me, to a point, sound is #3 behind feel and looks. So much of a basses sound can easily be changed and / or manipulated. Me insisting that I have a P bass, J bass, and something with humbuckers is entirely a me thing, not a for real need. With IRs, plugins and pedals (etc.), I can make that P bass sound like an acoustic if I so desire.
