These 5 Beginner Riffs Will Impress EVERYONE (I Mean, Probably)

Can easy beginner bass riffs actually be IMPRESSIVE? Yes - if you pick the right ones.

Beginner Impress Thumb

But is EVERY riff gonna impress EVERYONE? Probably not.

That’s why we’re tackling five riffs, each one designed to target a different demographic while building your bass skills. So with all 5 riffs, you can impress anyone, any time, any place, any… ONE!!!

If you’re doing the Beginner to Badass course, this lesson is doable once you learn syncopation in Module 8.

What’s your go-to impressive riff these days?

Cool video!

My high school band in ‘67-’69 (The Prodigal Sons) covered the Peter Gunn theme. That show was popular when it ran. I watched every episode. It’s fun to hear it again.

Here’s Mancini live on Ed Sullivan.

And the Blues Brothers Band live at Montreux. Lots of tasty Duck Dunn clips.

One more. Jeff Beck this time.

Damn, this brought back some great memories. Thanks @JoshFossgreen !

Hey @JoshFossgreen - Is the Sade riff how you won over your wife?

Thanks for thinking of us “oldies” with the Peter Gunn riff. I still watch reruns of the show for its jazz score.

Ha, should have tried that! I actually whipped out the fretless bass on our second date, only to find Mandi actually had an ear for pitch, oops. :ogre:
