Oh I totally get that. And that’s the theme of a lot of music I love. It’s more the style and execution than the content.
I also completely respect Barrett, Gilmour, Daltrey and Waters, even despite Barrett being a crazy diamond.

Hmm actually should try running them through a fuzz and a little phaser, good call
Use the Interstellar Overdrive pedal

And set the controls for the heart of the sun
I mean that’s just, like, her opinion man.
Not when it comes to the big Lebowski! She is my girlfriend, how could that happen?
She has to laugh at this scene though, so we’ll stay together:
(start at 2:00, for the ones that don’t know).
One of the few perfect movies.
same, I tried and tried but just not dark enough.
Listen to this:
Song: Another Brick in the Wall Artist: Pink Floyd Tuning: Drop D Source: https://ignition4.customsforge.com/ [Another Brick in the Wall ^ Pink Floyd Drop D]
Second 6-9 is enough! That is the BOOOOOINK I love, @Gloucestre !
That “boink” is a D1 ![]()
Here in Europe, a boink can decide itself if it wants to be D1 or not ![]()
I always play it in drop D-respect the Boooooooooooooing!
That “boink” is a D1
Songster has it also as D0:
Another Brick In The Wall (Part 2) Bass Tab by Pink Floyd. Free online tab player. One accurate version. Play along with original audio
This guy has it as D0:
Another one:
And another one:
I need proof for boink being D0 or D1. Does it pee standing up or sitting down?
PS does this make it easier for you @howard?
respect the Boooooooooooooing
My girlfriend just read that and said: “respect the boo-ing?” ![]()
Booing is what I expect for my first covers ^^
D1 means “D in the first octave”, it’s not the fret number. It is the note pitch, not the tab annotation. On the tab it would be the open low D string, annotated as a “0” on the tab. As it is.
The lowest note on a normal tuning is E1, on a drop D tuning it is D1.
(and the “first octave” refers to the first octave of keys on a piano keyboard)
Ah - so the tabs are … correct?
I have made a cake for this occasion and having a little party right now ![]()
well the notation of the D is correct ![]()
I knew you would say that!
Best is that D1 does not need to have an identity crisis and just be the boink it was meant to be!
And this tone doesn’t get you?
I heared it first on CD on very good speakers (Quadral Titan Mk2) and a great amp (Burmester) in 1984 and was BLOWN AWAY! (Saw the movie a few years before and was underwhelmed)
Before that it didn’t do anything for me, but this was my personal Pink Floyd YAY moment!
And this tone doesn’t get you?
It’s not that at all.
Look, my favorite bands are Joy Division and Skinny Puppy. I get the Pink Floyd vibe, I just get it in much larger and more powerful doses ![]()
Sorry, I still think Pink Floyd are tedious, the song included ![]()
As an aside, I did enter some bike races a few years ago with a friend who is a big Floyd fan. We raced as Comfortably Numb, which we thought was quite funny, especially as these races were ultra endurance, the longest being a 10 day stage race across the Australian outback. We came 9/10th, out of a starting field of 60 and were the only team to finish as a team. Freak me, that was a tough event!
Joy Division
You will hate me for this: best version of “New Dawn Fades” is … the one of … wait for it … Moby!
I have so many fond memories of Skinny Puppy.
When I heared “Assimilate” the first time on the dance floor, I was sold. And their weirder album stuff gripped me at home later! I always have to think about a girl called “Marian” (not related to “Sisters of mercy” :-)) when listening to Skinny Puppy.
