Thumb rest 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

So what are thoughts on adding a thumbrest to a pbass ??

I bought one now I’m hesitant about permanently defacing my bass.

It’s just a change to the pickguard. You can buy a replacement pickguard for under $10 if needed. Fancy ones for under $40.

If they do not that is just one place, many different places sell aftermarket pickguards. Good luck!

Try heavy duty double sided tape, it might hold it, it can hold frames to walls.

Zero Mod makes some nice no-drill thumb rests. They made me a custom rest for my arch top, a few years back.

There are aftermarket thumbrests on eBay that attach to different screws so you have some options.

Also I wouldn’t worry so much about defacing the bass. Moving the thumbrest is such a thing that some p basses are manufactured by Fender with holes in the pickguard to mimic the vintage instruments where the thumbrest was moved.

Here’s an example of a new bass, notice where the tug bar “used” to be

You can 3D print your and use the super thin StewMac double sided tape or get a ramp. I’m a big fan of the latter.
