Robbie Shakespeare for me!
Can’t argue with that!
Me… Well, at least my wife thinks so,… and in my world, that’s all that really matters…
However, I am a huge Jameson fan simply because he was so damn cool!! (and I’m kinda old) but, I love those melodic bass lines played on old worn out strings that he never cleaned because (in his words)… “It’s da GUNK dat makes da FUNK!”
Keep on Thumpin’!
Lanny
Stanley Clarke another fav and elvis costello
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a better description of Adam Clayton. You hit the nail on the head with that one!
I find these lists pretty* useless.
In another poll, I think among musicians, Hadrien Ferault was voted “best bass player”. He’s not even on this list.
Neither is Jeff Berlin, or Percy Jones.
But more importantly, it’s not a contest. All of these bass players, and thousands of others, have made music worth listening to.
Art doesn’t come with quantifiable criteria.
*) in fact, make that “completely useless”.
