Tina Weymouth, with a BIG assist from Mariah Carey, should get some love for this bass line. Originally from Tom Tom Club’s Genius of Love, it reached icon status with its use in Fantasy (featured here in the movie Free Guy. I used this video because the clown in the Mariah Carey video freaks me out

If anyone is interested, Paul Wolfe very recently offered a self-study “Funk-Soul-Disco 30 Day Challenge” course, which I found out about via his email list. I should have posted about it earlier, as it closed on January 30th. I was not interested in it for myself at this time. But he wrote that he may offer it again later, and also that it might cost more then. If you are familiar with and like Paul Wolfe’s teaching method, this might be a worthwhile course to keep in mind for the future.
OTOH, I’m not really fond of these sudden offers that are time-limited for registration, with implications that they may not be offered again, or will cost more, so you need to make a quick decision. But I guess these instructors have to make a living, and this method must work to get people enrolled. I guess if I was an intermediate player, I might be more tempted.

With the exception of a certain “Gloved Wonder,” most online instructors ain’t getting rich off of their lesson sales. The limited-time-only demand generation technique is as old as the hills, but it works, so people use it.
