“Come Together” by the Beatles and “Hysteria” by Muse really gave me the click.
Add to that “Under Pressure”, “Money” and “Another One Bites the Dust”!
“Another One Bites The Dust” is a bassline which is very hard for me to play. Somehow, I just don’t seem to get a grip on it (and mean the simplified version).
Basically, the basslines of the whole Ziggy Stardust album are great. Anybody else digging Trevor Bolder’s playing style??
Not 5 songs, but 1 genre in particular, electric blues, thanks to a young Buddy Guy special on the Chicago PBS station the summer of '65. The Beatles were still in an earlier phase and Paul’s basslines were still maturing. But, dayam, did I get hooked on blues bass. I finally got a chance to play bass in '67 when I joined a cover band. Bought a used '63 MIA Fender Jazz, a used late '64 Fender Bassman and a used Farfisa Mini. We called ourselves “The Prodigal Sons”. Some Christian techno/rave band stole that name almost 30 years later, so it held its uniqueness pretty well.
