Toys for coordination

Hello Bass lovers! Does anyone here have a good tip concerning any kind of toy (like a fidget toy maybe) to practice the coordination of your fret hand when you don’t have your bass with you?

I don’t know about a toy, but @buzzroberts posted this on another thread:

Thanks, I will do that. Sounds great!

You might check out these from D’Addario. Link is to GC, but not an endorsement. There are also some interesting items under the Musicians Care category that look interesting but I haven’t tried any of them.

Not a toy per se but learning a few finger exercises you can do anywhere is helpful for flexibility and independence

This old video has quite a few from easy to hard to pick some from

If you do buy a ‘toy’ my tip would be to avoid ‘strength’ building ones…strength is a minor issue with fingers pressing bass strings and some of these strength builders can lead to injury…concentrate on flexibility and especially building independence of your fingers

Thanks! This is awesome! and well… super hard! I think you’re right, it actually dosen’t need any toy to practice the flexibility and independance. I will practice some of these exercises

100% agree. It’s also easier to injure yourself with grip trainers than one might think, if you go too hard.

This is so good…as well as a reminder how uncoordinated my fingers are. Independent movement of my ring fingers…hmmm…a LOT of work needed on that :joy:
