Yeah I’m pretty sure the 6922 is an ECC88. Definitely compatible.
I’ll probably just pick up a JJ then. Thanks!

Ooh. I just saw a deal for 8 Voskhod mixed ECC88’s from Ukraine. Some guy is still online selling tubes, hopefully ripped out of dead tank radios or something. That’s tempting.
Or it’s a scam. It’s Ebay. Tempting to send the guy some cash though.
I already bought a lot of old tubes on Ebay actually. ECC88’s are not very popupar tube, you could find old ones for cheap !
EHX wants like $50 for theirs new. That’s a lot. Ebay might be it.
two weeks ago, during a garage sale, a found a guy with a lot of old tubes. I bought 2 5Y3 and 1 EZ80 (rectifier tubes) for 3€.
Wow nice. Need to find a cheap source here.
i used to do a little bit of “tube rolling” back in the day when i had tube amps in my home stereo system. i remember there was always some tube that everyone was looking for. once it was a soviet tube that supposedly was made for russian mig fighter jets control panels in the 60s. i found a guy in poland that had some but you needed to order a minimum number and i got a group buy together on an audiophile forum and we ordered a bunch. it was fun. all that being said, i never really heard any significant difference between different tubes. which is kind of the most audiophile statement ever ![]()
edit: found part of it. thought the guy was in poland but i guess in moscow:

Hah awesome. Love stuff like that, just going really deep on something so niche. Tubes are good for that.
btw if anyone is a fan, i have always just loved the preamps built by mick in australia. i have owned several of these over the years, just beautiful audio jewelry. mick at one point stopped making them to start a vineyard, which i think eventually failed. he now makes suprateks, still by hand one at a time, built to order only.
Apologies for distracting from the bass-oriented tube discussion, but this tube talk reminds me of my first job, in a drug store (pharmacy, with a lunch counter). I worked in the catch-all area where they sold records, small appliances, took in film for outsourced photo developing and printing, toys, magazines, etc.
We also had a TV tube tester cabinet, with chart for alternate/substitute names for the tubes, and a supply of replacement tubes in the cabinet below the tester. It looked a lot like this:
We now return to the ongoing discussion.
yep i remember those
Same. When I was very little my parents were still nursing along a tube tv. I remember going to some cheap store with them (KMart most likely) and there being walls and walls of tubes. Collector’s dream
