Turning Off Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 4th Gen

Hi!

I own the following audio interface:
Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 4th Gen, which does not have an On/Off button.

PROBLEM:
Everytime I turn off my PC, the audio interface remains On, so it gets hot for no reason.
My only solution is to unplug the power cord.

QUESTION:
Is there a setting, in the BIOS, or in Windows, that turns off the audio interface, when I turn off the PC?

MY SYSTEM:
•Motherboard: ASRock X670E Taichi (on BIOS v3.30).
•OS: Windows 11 Enterprise v24H2.
•USB Audio Interface: Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 4th Gen (on newest firmware & driver available).

You should get an “On/off power socket/switch”, or an extension chord with an on/off switch for your interface/computer.

US power socket with switch

Or in my country, Germany:

Power socket with switch

This works anywhere in the EU, even for the oddly shaped ungrounded (two-prong) Swiss plug.

You can also use an outlet strip with a power switch. I use a 3 outlet strip for my Surface Pro 11, Scarlett 4i4 and a lamp.

No. See @antonio 's suggestion. My old PreSonus 1810c got replaced by an RME Fireface UCX II because I needed a multi-client ASIO driver on my main system. The Scarlett’s ASIO driver is also multi-client (and with the latest update finally includes a native ARM ASIO driver!), or I’d have just used the 1810c on my new Surface Pro 11 Snapdragon Elite mobile rig.

Is bus power an option with it? Probably not with more than one mic input, but if it is that gives exactly what OP wants.

edit: looks like it is an option - if it is bus powered and the power stays on then yes there should be a bios setting to disable USB bus power when shut down, potentially listed as a “charging” feature

Are you using the option to power it with a power supply or is it only connected to your PC?

The 4i4 runs hot. That means power consumption. I run my Surface Pro off of its battery. The 4i4 would kill its battery life. I could plug the Surface Pro into its proprietary charger or use the 4i4’s USB-C power brick. For me, it’s one or the other.

I just disconnect my scarlet from my macbook when I am not using the scarlet and that turns off the power to the scarlet. But, I must be misunderstanding your question?

If it’s bus powered, it might be as simple as plugging the Scarlett into a different usb port that is on a different bus that doesnt have PD / always on power.

Yeah that too, usually only a subset (typically front panel) are always on

Hi!

It’s option 1, in the manual (with a power adapter).

Hi!

You did not misunderstood my question.
But, I am using this interface connected at a desktop PC.

I don’t want to keep on desconnecting cables, physically.
I’d just like the audio interface to disconnect itself, when the PC gets turned off.

If you’re using a power adapter, it will stay on unless you unplug the adapter. If connected solely to your PC and powered by the USB port, it should probably turn off if you shut down your PC.
Maybe it’s linked to use it as a stand-alone device :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

<O.P. UPDATE>

Hello!

Thanks for the replies.

I’ve found a solution:

My Harman Kardon AVR Receiver has 2 AC outlets in the rear side.

I’ve plugged in the power cord of the audio interface in one of those outlets.

Now, when I turn off the AVR, the audio interface gets turned off as well.
