Yep, it’s not a problem. I’ve done countless string changes on my guitars, with string windings wrapping around tuner posts. Never have had an issue.
I was watching a setup video from stewmac and they said with fender P basses you want 4 winds on the tuner otherwise it doesn’t wind down far enough and you might get buzzing on your nut (which I currently have and need to fix on my P).
A quick fix is to put a fret wrap around the neck behind the nut. It will fix the break angle / buzzing issue
Here’s where I want to get with my Bronco. Varitone switch and split humbucker. Yea I know I should just be practicing…
You are practicing… soldering.
With this economy and job market I’m ready to start practicing my sh*t shoveling skills or anything else that will make money
So my “new” bass isn’t clean enough to show yet but the shielding paint looked a little thin so I foiled it.
I guess shiny is a hard thing to show but it’s done!
I don’t know if it made it easier to have a Dremel but I feel like it did a better job. Dremel, clean, rub with polish cloth.
The tape saved on cleanup but in some spots it got gummy and was a pain on the lower frets.
I haven’t bothered with taping for polishing after I realized you can just sand/polish the wood too.
Just an update from my earlier post. Took a few days but got the cables all organized and such. Now the only two dangling cables are the power cables from my two remaining ups’s. With all the organization I was able to completely remove an ups from use.
Best thing is can now easily pull the desk out to vacuum behind it. There was A LOT of dust and cat hair back there. Not anymore!
I don’t remember if I told you that I love your studio desk but I love your studio desk.
Thank you! My last desk at my old house was this huge monstrosity. Tons of drawers and cabinets that turns into gulags for junk. Also couldn’t be moved so the dust gathered in huge amounts behind it with no real way to clean it.
This studio style desk forced me into a much more minimalist mentality for my office. I have to really think about anything I get for my office as I have very few places to put it without things getting cluttered. Makes things far more peaceful and productive.
Yeah I love mine. Yours is nicer though
I just use a cheapy Ikea desk that used to be in the spare bedroom. It’s suited well for my purpose, minimal with just enough storage to hold spare cables, picks, and pedal boxes where the tower should go.
Studio desks have some nice features for music. Mine has a MIDI keyboard controller sized sliding tray, which is where my controller lives. Most have a backshelf and mounting pads to put your monitor speakers on at the correct height. many have rack space under the shelf; mine had 4U, and I had it 1/2 full of synths at one point. Some have built in power.
They all have ample desk space for mixers, etc.
Just nice, kind of task-optimized for music production.
I have a TV tray on mine that is just the right height so that I don’t have to stoop over to work on my laptop. Our requirements seem way different.
Edit: Oh, and my mixer is on the desk underneath the tv tray so I’ve still got plenty of room on the side for grown up soda.
Now I can’t help but notice how much shit I have on my desk. Need a cleaning spree.
I just put a Darkglass Tone Capsule in my 8 String Schecter! I pulled the EMG preamp and pots out as one assembly and installed new pots with the Darkglass stuff. It sounds beastly now!!!
@MattyD for the next time, you might want to know that those little protective metal plates do exist :
