That was kind of a wild leap! That was one of those late night after a scotch orders! I’m glad it worked Outback, the jury was out!

I tend to think of that as pearloid rather than tortoise shell, but even still… are you being kidnapped? Do you require assistance?

Edit for clarity: I love it, just never thought I’d see the day Howard professed a fondness for tort.

I myself am just now coming out of a coma I lapsed into when I read that the other day. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

It works there!

I believe it’s pearloid, but no matter. I have those immortal words of tort appreciation forever burned into my memory banks.

I think it’s important to be kind.

As Vice President of Yamaha Sales (North America) @howard is probably spending a lot of time with the legal team re the whole Fender gong show. So maybe his Tort radar needs recalibration as he’s a bit distracted.

We’re rooting for you buddy :sign_of_the_horns:

Installed new gotoh gb 528 tuners and a gotoh 404bo bridge on my Sire v7 .
There was absolutely nothing wrong with the stock parts but since I sold my last motorcycle after 34 years of riding and tinkering bikes I was in need of some creative therapy

Used the old bridge as a reference for the new one
String through holes lined up with the new bridge.
Had to drill all new screw holes though as the gotoh had a 5 screw “F” pattern..

It was not a straightforward swap , the bridge was probably placed about 3 or 4 mm too close to the neck for intonation
So I needed to shorten the saddle scews because thet bottomed out in the saddles (blind hole)

Also needed to replace the saddle grub screws with the longer ones that came with the original bridge because the gotoh ones were a bit too short.
Would I have placed the bridge a bit further back the intonation would work straight out of the box but the string ferrules would not line up and some original screw holes would be showing.
End result:

some weight was added to the body
Stock:

New:

The gotoh tuners went much nicer
Big noticable weight saving on the neck as well
original tuners:

New ones:

Only had to make 0,75mm brass strips to compensate the 1,5 mm difference in diameter
(16mm vs 17,5 mm)

Two screw holes lined up nicely . the other two got filled up with 2k wood filler

The stock tuners were nice but these are Sooo much nicer , very happy with them  Also the “ears” on the gotoh tuners are a bit smaller, it makes the sire headstock a bit prettier

The gotoh bridge is nice as well but a little more work .
Now I got 19 mm string spacing and got rid of the weird spiral grooved saddles
Also losing 125 g at headstock and gaining 23 g at the body makes for a very nice and noticable shift of balance :+1:
