By the way: one factor might be that I use a 17" laptop - often, controls are often simply to small for me to see properly. I do have a secondary 16" display, which I use rarely.
I guess that you use several large (32") displays?

So the general term for the screen you like in Pigments is “macros”. These are pre-canned controls to easily tweak multiple synth parameters at once.
For Pigments and UVI Falcon, these are separate screens.
For Phase Plant, these are always visible along the top of the patch. This is actually a virtue, Phase Plant is loved for sound design due to its modular flexibility and having everything right there on one screen.
For Analog Lab these are all you get.
I really recommend diving in to Analog Lab if you mainly want presets. It’s about the best buy for that, all really good selected presets from V Collection.

Unless you plan to create your own patches, yes absolutely.
Pigments is outstanding but if you just want a preset player Analog Lab is unparalleled

If you really want to learn, buy Syntorial on sale. Best method by far and comes with a nice basic synth. It’s money as well spent as BassBuzz. Largely review for me but I learned some things in there too.
I look at that on a regular basis, but haven’t encountered a sale recently.
I will hold of on getting an additional synth for now, try to make do with what I have and learn slooooooowlyyyyyyyyy about synths in the meantime - either with a discounted Syntorial or with the video i linked above.
I am now digging into samplers anyway, as I still try to solve some crazy vocal ideas I have for the extended version of “TÜV geprüfter Hurensohn”.
By the way: I heard that “TÜV geprüfter Hurensohn” was played on a local event yesterday, and the crowd went crazy, shouting “TÜV geprüfter Hurensohn”, along with the song.
I wasn’t there, but that’s great. I still don’t get how a DJ can be happy with a 1:30 song.

I agree with “most complex”, but IMO, the award for most terrible UI goes to Sampletank 4. I still have Falcon installed. Sampletank 4 got the boot.
Yeah the big bummer with Falcon is they take menu diving beyond the next level and make it a life goal, but once you have all the parts added there is arguably no better softsynth. I have bought and sold it twice 
It’s a ridiculous thing to get used to but probably the best sounding sound-design workhorse. It’s so good, and yet so bad.
@Whying_Dutchman if interested in samples I would take a look at Decent Sampler (free, good) and HALion (much better but not free). HALion is arguably the best there is.

Venus Theory is one of their spokespeople and produces great free sample packs for it too. If you haven’t found his channel yet, the three best Synth youtubers are him, Starsky Carr, ans Audiopilz (Bad Gear).
And definitely grab Cameron’s (Venus Theory) free Auras instruments for Decent Sampler. I hope this link works.
