Ok, the sampler method s#cks!
I tried it like this (for the “TÜV” => “TÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜV” use case):
Splice the TÜV sample manually
Mapped it like this: C1: T, C#1: Ü, D1: T
Created a MIDI track that play C1, several C#1 and finally D1
No matter how I quantize it (1/16, 1/32, 1/64), it (= the C#1 repeat) sounds sh#t!
What did I learn? This is NOT the way!
I’ll retry the stretch sample / gating method.
There’s also sample looping and stutter. Also delay. For example, the Lexicon delays have an infinite repeat button and that would be my method here (Ogre used to do this live all the time).
For example, with sample looping:
In your case you would map the loop over the part you want to stutter (or sustain), set it to sustain mode with a long release curve, and just play a sustained note for however long you want it to go; releasing plays the rest of the sample.

You’re right, according to Perplexity:
SynthMaster 3 workflow
Create a new Init patch in SynthMaster 3.
Disable/turn down any default oscillator you do not need.
Add a Sample Oscillator as the only sound source.
Load word_full.wav into that oscillator.
Map it to one MIDI key/range:
Root note: C3 or another convenient key.
Key range: C3 only for testing.
Set the amplitude envelope:
Attack: 1–5 ms
Decay: 0–50 ms
Sustain: 100%
Release: 50–150 ms
In the sample oscillator’s playback/loop section:
Enable Loop.
Put Loop Start at the beginning of the middle syllable/vowel.
Put Loop End at the end of that middle section.
Select a mode named something like Sustain, Loop Until Release, Forward Sustain, or Release Loop—the names may differ by SynthMaster version.
Leave the final syllable after Loop End.
Hold C3:
Release C3:
*SynthMaster 3 is a modular synth with granular and sample-oriented functions; use the normal sample oscillator rather than the granular oscillator for this precise articulation. Granular playback is excellent for the stretched “Am I Wrong” texture, but it will not reliably preserve a clean final syllable on key release

I will try that for my one syllable “TÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜÜV” use case (using attack → sustain loop → release tail) , which is simpler than the 3 syllable “huuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnsssssssssoooooooooooooooooohhhhhhn”
For a 3 syllable sample I’ll try a granular approach. Not looking forward to that…

Perplexity was wrong 
The Synthmaster 3 “using attack → sustain loop → release tail” does not exist for samples.
Those AI halluciations s#ck: they give you hope by describing something in great detail that does not exist.
If you tell them that the procedure does not work, it’s like: “oh, yeah, sorry, you’re right - it does not work at all”
Don’t tell @howard, but f#cking Phase Plant seems to do everything I want and more…

I am currently looking at all of my plugins, selecting stuff that I don’t need and can be sold (not everything is transferable, WTF?).
With more experience I see a pattern developing: initially I got everything that remotely sounded cool, just to find out that it’s not so cool (cause: limited) or worse: I already have that functionality in other plugins.
I want to reduce my plugins substantially and then invest only in stuff that matters.
Pigments 7 and Phase Plant (yeah yeah) are top of the list now.
Phase plant, cause it doubles as a sampler for some of my use cases. Pigments, cause it’s simple(r) and easy on the eye … just like the girlfriends I had when I was young
I am eying Bitwig too, I have to admit. Still very happy with Studio one (it’s an on/off relationship), but Bitwig seems to be able to do interesting stuff out of the box, for example the simple sampling use case…
Pigments also can do samples, not sure how powerful its editor is though. It sounds decent.
UVI Falcon is even better than Phase Plant for samples but I would never wish Falcon on a synth noobie.
I really hate to recommend NI for anything at this point but Kontakt is one of the mainstays for sample workflows and is way more capable than Phase Plant there, and has the most sample libraries available (of all).
Steinberg HALion is IMO a better choice as (a) it’s not NI* and (b) it is an outstanding sampler AND has a synth engine.
Falcon, Kontakt, and HALion are the three most capable choices I am aware of.
*there’s nothing wrong with NI’s stuff, it’s more that NI itself is toast.
But that would be another plugin!
Synths are more important (currently) than elaborated samplers. That might change, depending on how “Einstürzende Neubauten” I’ll go.
I am delving more into Drox II Pro again for my current remix - I really advise to look at this video to hear what the (old) version can do:
The newer version is better but does not have a proper YT video to show the effects I need.
In this video I hear everything (and more) I plan to do, so I’ll pursue this for the time being … but I just don’t get any good results currently.

The GUI is beautiful … but the UI/UX s#cks terribly. Maybe it’s cause I don’t understand the concepts, but I do have a feeling that form does not follow function all the time here…
I avoided HALion for years because? Steinberg! I’ve had terrible luck with licensing dongles, going all the way back to the original iLok Centronics parallel port dongle (one for each app!). The iLok USB port dongles never worked reliably for me, sometimes intermittent on some machines and sometimes failing completely on others. Once Steinberg replaced the dongle with a decent and easy-to-use software licensing scheme, I bought HALion. It’s great. Expensive, but great. That said, I will NEVER buy Cubase. Of course it’s better than the others with some things, but really, I’ve got all of my DAW bases covered with Bitwig, Studio Pro and Reaper.
I wouldn’t wish Falcon on an experienced soft synth user. I stick to its presets.
Oh, BTW, if you ARE ready to make the jump, Bitwig’s builtin sampler also does region looping.

Honestly - before going with any plugin here I would seriously consider just making the jump to Bitwig now. Its builtins and presets are more than good enough. You can always buy in at a lower tier and upgrade later.
I can’t stress this enough: I know it sounds like I’m joking, but money is an issue for me. I am as poor as I was in the 80s, for reasons beyond this public forum.
So, for everything I buy I need to sell something, even when it’s small amounts (compared to my former life some time ago).

Yeah that’s what I mean - don’t waste money on a sampler plugin now, sell off the ones like you are doing, and then just invest in Bitwig when you can.
