Video learning technique

Hey hey! I’ve subscribed to BassBuzz’s B2B lessons for nearly a year now but shamefully time has passed me by and only now do I have the time to really focus on my bass learning journey. I’m interested to know, though, what the best way to attack these lessons is… I’ve done a few self-guided teaching things in the past (Duolingo, etc) and I have found that I “go through the motions” with the videos and modules but don’t really learn. Should I run through each video a few times until I can do the lesson off by heart or is it enough to just progress from video to video and assume something will stick?! What have you found works best? Many thanks in advance! Steve

Welcome, @Turbohobbit. Congrats on getting going with B2B. Don’t worry about a thing: Josh’s lessons are unlike any course you’ve ever experienced before; the lessons are short, sweet and waaaay fun! The concept behind each is clear and easy to understand. And Josh presents a slow, medium, and fast workout for each module, in which he demonstrates and plays along with you to reinforce exactly what you should do at every step. In short, B2B is the best, most effective and fun way to learn bass. Just follow Josh’s lead and you will learn.

Also, consider popping over to the https://forum.bassbuzz.com/t/introduce-yourself-2024 thread to say hi and let the gang welcome you.

Not a single thing shameful about it. One of the many perks to this course is that you bought and paid for it, and is ready to go whenever you are. I finished it up in April, and am going through now a second time. I would suggest going through at a pace that you’re comfortable with, and don’t sweat trying to absorb every single thing Josh is teaching. It isn’t gonna all click right away. Play your bass and make sure you’re always having fun and enjoy making music. There are a few spots where Josh builds in a few reality checks… definitely do not hyper focus on them. Get the slow workouts down and move on (come back and kick medium / fast workout butt when you’re done with the course). As a bass noob still, this second playthrough has been awesome. I can’t believe how much better I am now than even April.

In Josh we trust.

Follow the modules, do the workouts, keep moving forward.

A lot of us finished and restarted from the beginning to pick up what we missed.
