From what I can tell it’s a series from the 80s. The tone was perfect. It felt great. I assumed I wouldn’t care for the fret markers near the E-String but playing it I found them helpful.
Frankly I loved it. I also don’t know how to value it at the $360 asking price. However I’m growing more and more inclined to go back and get it ASAP.
I did find this thread on talkbass that discussed it some time back. It could maybe be the exact bass.
Is this a ripoff? Or, as I’m inclined to think, a must buy?
There are a lot of '80s basses that are excellent and no one wants them cause they are not cool or whatever. A buddy of mine plays a Kawai (ya, the keyboard people) from the '80s still and loves it and gigs with it to this day.
Sound like you really liked it, looks to be in good shape.
If you really want it go back and ask them to do better on the price and you will walk out with it.
At least $360 is not expensive for a bass that you really loved.
Washburn had a really wide products range at the time, and overall those instruments were good. If it sounds and feels good to you, then it’s good for you
Looks like a decent instrument. Neck through construction, ever so cool looking bridge, what’s not to like? Dave('s World of Fun Stuff) has one on his workbench in this video:
