I searched the forum but didn’t see any topic for this, so I decided to create one. You can write here about anything odd caused by playing the bass.
I recently noticed something weird. And I want to ask those of you who play sitting down with the bass on your lap if this has ever happened to you.
I started playing the bass this Spring, and I play everyday, always when I have time. Sometimes an hour or more, sometimes 15 minutes, sometimes twice a day, and weekends easily more than 2 hours. I play sitting down with the bass on my lap, resting over my right thigh. I used to play wearing a strap, but lately because of back problems I haven’t used the strap, so the weight of the bass is on my right thigh.
So, I noticed the bass has left an imprint on my thigh, like a little depression on the place I always keep it. At first I wondered whether I was imagining it, and maybe it had always been there. But now I think it is the weight of the bass. It is exactly on the same spot. Sometimes I tried keeping the bass a little forward or closer to me, but that spot is the perfect spot. So everyday I play with the bass resting on my leg, and I think it left an imprint on it.
This probably happens to other people too? What about those of you who have played for some years already? Have you noticed this?
It doesn’t disappear from one day to the other. It is always there. ![]()
