RIP Sinead

A song about depression

My brain just exploded.
Thanks, @joergkutter

That is a young and nearly shirtless Jonas. Pretty epic and amazing.

Reminds me of the Mats/Morgan band, which makes me think of Sol Niger Within - one of my favorite albums in the metal genre.

And, for the record, I’m all about basses with whammy bars.
And giant rows of effects pedals.
And long hair.
Also, flowing, open shirts.
And gratuitous bass solos, tapping, odd times, slapping, and all other bass excesses.
I’d like to take a solo, and then have to flip my hair off of my bass so as to get back to the groove.

I could only make it through this for 5 minutes.
They are just too crazy and swedish for me… which I had hoped wasn’t a thing I’d ever type.
But we are all human.
We all have our limits.

Thanks for the share!
Hope all’s well out there.

I was sure you could pull it off, @Gio - and really, if anywhere (other than Sweden) then in California

I know you have all the “bass excesses” down and I am also pretty sure you could find a flowing open shirt. Alas, that hair… I mean it’s clearly not the same without repeatedly having to flip that mane away

Anyhoo, all’s well here - you guys could send a few degrees and a bit of sunshine though!

What A Trip

Hadn’t occurred to me that we bass players could play along to Hip Hop tunes.

And this baseline is rather simple

Stay Hip,

True, I mean Vanilla Ice wrote some classic bass lines

A nice way to practice a bit of improv too and extend the line here and there, etc.

I Totally Agree Brother @John_E

Used this baseline with my backing track at 75bpm

Sounds way cool

Cool summer song

Maybe poppier than usual for them, but she still delivers on the deeply weird. They had a big push here a while back and seemed like they were everywhere in Shibuya.

I really dig their sound. It’s groove-oriented and synth-heavy - what’s not to like
(Shame the bass player only gets criminally little screen time):

Getting some nice sawtooth sounds out of that synth on top. Trying to figure out what it is (the wood-case one on the right, not the Juno on the left).

You are much more familiar with all these synth models!

A Prophet!?

Doesn’t look like it, way more wood, didn’t see the logo, and the keyboard is this grey plastic inset.

Looks home-made

Yeah actually…

As if it weren’t apparent, I like people who have their own vibe. Especially when it seems authentic, like with Utaha. She was a great choice by Wednesday Campanella. She put out a lot of tik toks during that push

Yeah she is spot on for that band. And deeply weird is a compliment from me

Didn’t take it any other way.

She looks radically different in a wig

This song off the Yo La Tengo album from earlier this year is mostly droning feedback noise and some lyrics about guacamole and yo-yo tricks, but manages to gets my head nodding because the bassline is so groovy.

Debbie still got it at 78, why not?

Nile Rogers is 70 too
