That song sounds exactly, precisely, as I expected it would based on the video hero image/thumbnail
Right!
I think this song is catchy. A few more like this and they will have a moment. In a crowded pop market where people struggle to stick out, they have a front woman who sticks out. Add in some Yasutaka level production, and they will do well.
I was watching a Yasutaka video the other night where he was DJing and his friend KPP stopped by and sang with him. For all the success he’s had, he is little known in the west
Capsule just released an album last year (or maybe 2022). Still active with his main band. Are you sure it was Kyary and not Toshiko that showed up? They are still gigging, with him at the DJ/production station and her singing.
I am sure it was Kyary. I will look later but will wait for the vid to show up in my feed again to verify, inevitable.
Could not find it, cause you know Kyary has a billion clips on YouTube. Maybe two.
But I found this one.
I find it interesting that Kyary is not doing the choreo for this song just having a good time.
Ahh cool, he did a tour with her.
Kind of wonder what his main venue will be now that agEha is closed.
Ah how cool, full 80’s vibe and I guess the change from twat to jerk made it radio friendly.
It might be because Brian Molko knows less about twats and more about jerks?!
I absolutely love this song!!!
Have to admit that I heared it for the first time last year, watching the documentary “Beautiful Noise”.
Watch it here:
@howard - that is also something for you!
Yeah some of my favorites in there! A lot of my youth wrapped up in that documentary.
In that spirit…
Take a careful listen and guess what drum machine they are using there, and be shocked
Garlands was a masterpiece, the whole album. IMO their best - they were still solidly post-punk and had not quite gone fully ethereal/shoegaze yet - and one of the best debut albums of all time. As much as I loved Simon Raymonde’s later bass work, Will Heggie just nailed it on this album.
A real masterpiece, though it messes up my schedule when it pops up in my random playlist
Gardening in the rain, might be a great line for a song, but for me it’s not too enjoyable. This track helps. Japanese bands are not my forte, but I know these guys and its stoner/doom excellency!
Nod to Macabre for starting the whole serial killer genre.
