I’ve just been given 2 tickets to see The Blockheads on Sunday night at a small venue. I was going to buy myself a ticket but I’m cash-poor right now, so when my best mate announces he can’t go with his lady friend due to ill health and was giving them to me… well.
My only decision now is whether I take my bass along to get it signed by Norman Watt-Roy.
I’m guessing even @JoshFossgreen might be a little jealous of this gig.
It’s a great movement. The first piece of the night was great too. It was Weber’s overture to Oberon which has some sections that you’d definitely call shredding if they were played by electric guitar and not orchestral instruments.
Man, I totally slept on these guys. I didn’t realize how much I liked 311. This was my first time really paying attention to P-NUT, I liked his playing a lot! This was a cool intimate live set.
This is like a modern Spinal Tap / Rick Wakeman / Glam Rock combo. They have the talent, and I like the song, but their video / presentation is firmly tongue in cheek.
They are starting to sound a lot like a Nakata Yasutaka production (not a bad thing, he’s awesome). About the same vibe too. They seem to be getting less weird-wierd and more pop-weird.
On the other hand, this song is probably going to be up on the billboard outside my office window like last time, and I won’t be able to escape it.
