What are you listening to right now?

Hey, what can I say? I’m old.

Thrice has an amazing bassist. Eddie Breckenridge is my personal favorite.

Ah, I also have some vinyl lying around. Can you post a video, how you did that?

Smells great when that happens too.

They have albums now that dont hiss, pop and wobble! They even have turntables that you don’t have to hook your o’scope up to to time!

I am a hires digital fan!
If you have listened to - for example - the Black Album from Metallica via a highend system from highres FLAC (or SACD) and vinyl, you know how bad vinyl is…

Nothing beats the ritual of putting on an album, going over the brush, gently lowering the needle, hearing it make contact, settling in the groove, gently closing the lid and waiting for the first tone/note.

Yeah! 100% agreed and very cool! I only don’t like the listening experience after that!

I get it. And I’m not hating on digital, I use streaming a lot when I’m out and about. But vinyl just feels like putting on that old worn pair of slippers. It’s just coziness.

I also don’t stream stuff (which is compressed to death), as I’d rather purchase and rip CDs, SACDs or DVD Audios to FLAC or get highres FLACs and put that on my phone (got a 1TB SD card on my phone).

My ears are not what they used to be (especially at frequencies above 16KHz, which I cannot hear anymore :frowning: ), so I try to listen to music at the highest quality possible, as long as I can … knowing that it will be over (too) soon.

A very depressing thought!!!

That sucks man, sorry to hear that.

Yeah … I noticed this after my (much younger) girlfriend complained when I played around with REW to measure my room. While I heared really nothing when playing around with 16KHz frequencies and higher (playing them at 100% volume, eventually. VERY LOUD), she was suffering like a dog hearing a dog whistle.

It made me think! I thought I would stay forever young and be indestructable. This was the first time, that I really could not ignore me getting older (except for me getting overweight too -) )…

Try it yourself if you really want to be depressed! The listening to high frequencies part, not the weight issues
