Right now, this. A lot:
I like the long version’s jazzy piano intro and fills. The bass line is ostinato, head-boppable, and not buried in the mix. The scratching part is obnoxious but short and easy to fast-forward through. All in all a fun, smooth jam.
As an added bonus for B2B students working to hear drum parts, this tune is great for that. It’s almost impossible not to hear them in this song, as they come in early. The snare has been substituted with that hand-clap-ish thing we hear from time to time—most of this track was probably synths, honestly—but you can follow that bass drum and hi-hat with ease, should you want to log some time doing that.
Enjoy…
Update on the singer of Flogging Molly. It’s good that he’s recovering, but yikes.
Normally, my son (11) chooses music when we are in the car together. We listen to a lot of Trivium, and he has this song from a tv show, « The Rumbling », from SiM that he puts a lot. I came to have it as a ear worm during the night.
When it’s my turn, I tend to choose « She’s Kerosene » by the Interruptors quite often these days. I get to have 2 different ear worms during the night. I also like Bat Country (Avenged Sevenfold) and Lost in the Static (After the Burial). Those are the 3 songs I listen to the most by choice.
So good!
This band should get more love!
I only heard about them thanks to UK podcasts.
This is awesome music for writing automation tasks in Azure.
Oh my goodness! You have to be Gen-X.
Armored Saint! I forgot I listened to them until I saw your post.
And a to everything else you posted (except for a couple I’m unfamiliar with - John Prine, Exmortus. I know Possessed but never got into them).
Edit: And what I’m listening to
Yep, late Gen. X. And still very much a metalhead.
BTW, that was the album “Possessed” by Venom. Not an album by the (also kickass) band Possessed.
Just want to say I am amused that the novel Make Room! Make Room! by Harry Harrison, which is a comedy, has more fame as Soylent Green, which is so not a comedy.
Ah yes. As I scrolled through I missed the t-shirts, probably because Venom was another band I was familiar with, but never really listened to. So, just two I never heard of.
Have a nice day.
One of my favorite albums. Big fan of Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber.
Very good '66 blues song by Mike Matthews and The Bitter Seeds Blues Band. Mike went on to found Electro-Harmonix in '68. After being “lost” for decades, a master was recently discovered. I like this one!
Really enjoying this at the moment. The Belgian band is described as atmospheric post-punk
Checking out the other bands playing at my friend’s band’s record release next week:

I think a few of y’all will enjoy these, too.
