Lots of other videos showing up, too. My first Rush show was New Year’s Eve ‘74-’75 at B’ginnings in Schaumburg, IL when they toured Fly By Night. It’s SO great to hear them live again after the sad passing of Neal.
Ahh I just can’t help but love Electric Callboy, and I don’t want to think about how “Smash” came out when I was a teenager because that makes me approximately too old. But that music video is one of the most Los Angeles things especially with the homage to our pink donut boxes.
It’s interesting, Heggie took a much more active role in defining their sound and Garlands is straight up post-punk. Raymonde is usually much more of a part of the background tapestry and works great in entirely separate ways.
Garlands is one of my favorite debut albums, one of the best IMO, but what got me in to them originally was The Pink Opaque. Then again, the specific track that hooked me on Pink Opaque was it’s version of Wax and Wane, so that’s kind of the gateway drug to Garlands.
