I was geeking out today trying to figure out what drum machine they used on Treasure and couldn’t place it. Turned out it was an E-mu Drumulator. Sounded great.
I love that they never got a regular drummer, much like Sisters of Mercy, and were all in on drum machines. A band after my own heart.
Also that Garlands used a TR-808, which is just bonkers, kind of like how Skinny Puppy were the first recorded users of the TR-909 on an album. This is so damn ‘80s “use what you got”.
Here’s what i’m currently listening to right now (at the time of posting). 12 Stones - far away
I would imagine there are a few of us old- timers here that at least know who Buddy Ebsen is. I bet even less (myself include had it not populated) who have heard him sing as a young man.
I think many here know of and have seen The Wizard of Oz… Ebsen trivia: he was supposed to play the part of the Tin Man but was unable because of a severe reaction to the make up.
This song has nothing to do with the above stuff other than the title…
Thinking of @Whying_Dutchman
. NDW (Neue Deutsche Welle (New German Wave)) is alive and kicking.
Another NDW influenced song. Well, NDW was new in 1980. ![]()
The human brain works in mysterious ways. I woke up this morning with Blaue Augen (Blue Eyes) by Ideal playing in my brain, so I’ve been on an NDW kick all day. Here’s the one-of-a-kind Nina Hagen performing a reggae-influenced NDW song.
Last one. Here’s the song I woke up singing along with.
Always loved the original, now this is it + Giorgio ![]()
Bruce Foxton being his awesome self and Weller’s amazing lyrics
