What are you listening to right now?

Mindphaser was their best known song as FLA, yeah. Really they had a lot of great stuff over the years. Amazingly diverse, too. This was their biggest hit (as Delerium), which I am sure you will recognize.

Oh, yeah! Some great Toots and the Maytals! Gregory Isaacs also had some great bass lines.

I watch this guy a couple times a week; he’s a retired composer and offers good insight occaisionally, and is a lot more down to earth than Beato

But this one, of course, Kate, need I say more?

Just got this and it just might be the best live show / live show recording ever.

Amazing

Oh, why not. . .

“Part 1” only, a 1973 (or 1974?) BBC televised version. It differs from original vinyl recording, but it’s interesting to see the various instruments being played.

*Edited to add (per the Musical Instruments page at Tubular.net):

  • On the original vinyl recording, Michael Oldfield played a Fender Telecaster Bass, which he borrowed from Phillip Newell (a live and studio engineer, and a producer).
  • For the “2nd House” live performance in the above video, Michael played a “1960 Fender Precision Bass, blonde, s/n 48986.” Other bassists who played in the live performance were Fred Frith - bass, guitar, and Ted Speight - guitar, bass.

Does anyone know how to play the bass riff that starts about 18.5 mins in ?
