I saw Buddy and Carlos Santana on a double ticket back before Carlos got popular again. Shades of the old Santana Blues Band.
It was a great show

I live within driving distance of Buddy Guy’s club Legends in Chicago - and a decade ago he was still performing all month every January - but I think that’s gone away (the guys IS 82 after all). Regret never taking advantage of that. Does anyone remember the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors where Buddy not only was honored, but got President Obama to sing along to a chorus of Sweet Home Chicago?
As part of my ongoing “I Am A Tim Lefebvre Fanboy” initiative, been checking out this record he played bass on. Wild electronic jazz experimental with cool effects pedals.
Imma post it (hat tip to @StartedAt48 ). It’s not the worst thing I’ve seen on here. But first, a disclaimer:
This video has explicit lyrics, but not any worse than some of the Saturday nights I know some of you have had.
It is NOT visually explicit - it’s three old dudes in a parking lot.
It is super-crass, and at first you think they are just being crass for fun. But then it gets dark, and you think maybe the trope of old people being sweet and easily offended is just bullsh*t, and this is what they are thinking all the time. 'Cause old people are, you know, people.
Pretty sure this song started as being crass for the sake of being crass, but as art happens sometimes, it evolved into something with meaning.
Kevin seems nice.
I KNOW I can’t post the vid of what I’m listing to and my priest will probably strangle me for sure, he refers to me as his “future ulcer” for a reason.
The swear bears 12 days of Christmas (stores here in the Netherlands are already selling Christmas stuff, looking at you Action )
If you look it up on YouTube proceed with caution. Do NOT drink or eat anything.
I’ve been a fan of the band for decades and I am still just blown away by how good this cover is.
It’s not a send-up; Bob Mould actually loves The Byrds. The raw emotion in this one just takes the song to a whole new level.
Accordion in a metal song. The accordion riff was so popular the audience sang along with it, in turn the band changed their arrangement to sing along with the crowd.
Those darned accordions
Accordions rule.
Sweet Mother Of Bass, will it ever end?!?
Nope. Pandora’s Accordion Case has been opened. It cannot be closed again.
Just for the record. How many accordions have you sold and then bought back?
None.
I had two accordions total: a Contello, purchased from the Milton Mann Accordion Studio in my youth, and a Hohner, purchased about 2 years ago. I sold them both last year to fund bass purchases and to help keep my focus on bass from wandering.
And you know, for what it’s worth, I’ve only bought back one bass.

New video from Nemophila, with a pregnant Mayu on vocals, which I find so metal. They’re playing the Aftershock Festival today, last show before she takes some time off.
Haraguchi-san has a brief solo on bass
One of the many songs that made me want to learn an instrument. Since family strictly opposed to the drums (can’t think why ), it’s going to be the bass…
I plan to finally get the gear in about two weeks, when hubby and the children go on vacation for a week without me…
