What are you listening to right now?

Here is a younger Mayu. Before Nemophila, she fronted a band called Lipstick. Less polished, more raw, just learning the ropes.

Mayu would leave the band soon after this, and setup a few solo gigs, she needed some musicians and invited some she knew to back her up as a one off. They had so much fun they formed a band and quit their other bands. And Nemophila was born. But that’s a few months down the road from here.

Tim Henson (and the rest) x Steve Vai

Hard to believe Henson is almost 30.

As usual with their stuff I leave feeling their drummer is the real MVP. Just wow.

Playing along to one of the best soundtrack songs to one of the best movies (cough) of all time.

Anytime someone says the word “flash” internally my mind goes ahh-ahhh

Just learned to play Queen’s Flash Gordan last weekend. 90% chugging on an open A with just a few short, slow-ish melodic interludes up high on the neck. I love songs like that; constantly have my ears open for other big iconic songs that are easier to play then I realize. Makes you feel like a rockstar!

It’s such a great song, but it’s better when you add in the spoken lines from the movie :stuck_out_tongue:

Another one I am enjoying watching because I can only play the easier bits, but I love the slide to the 12th fret:

New single from Atarashii Gakko, called Hanako.

Hanako-san is a ghost that inhabits bathrooms in stories

And here is Hanako-san, an artist somewhere between idol/Meshuga/and the comic Gallagher who performs cos-playing as her namesake

An oldie but a goodie

I hadn’t actually seen the fully composited video before. sounds like they mixed the bass guitar down a bit which is too bad as its an awesome effect. Still a solid song.

It’s synthbass over bass guitar and sounds cool. You can even hear the fret buzz

Berlin School in general, and atm this in specific:

Synphaera Records’ has invited its Discord members to submit songs in the style, the members will vote, and then the label owners plan to take 7-8 of the top 10 to put together an album “to pay for Synphaera operating costs” and… I’m not sure how I feel about that. They have an ambient music website that did albums to help pay for site costs and that made sense to me.

Maybe my meds are slipping and letting me be too cynical :woman_shrugging:t2:

Maybe I just don’t trust humanity in general anymore as it seems like everyone and their mother is trying to make a buck online

I like that a lot. Reminds me of mid '90s IDM, but better.

“Personal Jesus” by Depeche Mode. Maybe not iconic but tons of fun to play and easy enough for me to not butcher too badly.

Is there a thread to collect fun, easier for beginners, recognizable songs?

Not that I’m aware of but then I’m sort of a newbie around here. You could start one if there’s not. Fun and easy are my favorite!
