What are you struggling with?

K … what an incredible story!! Love it! A lot of our Canadian talent spends more time down south … LOL! I could totally see Neil sayin that tho

That’s the other benefit of being a ‘workin’ musician… you never know who you may run into!

Edit: Closest ‘brush’ with fame I got in the band… was we got to open for Age of Electric  That was fun  Neil Young tho… is a freakin LEGEND!!

And our first gig after we Spinal Tapped (fired first gig on the road)… Trooper was there the week before us… comin in to that fresh on the road…(after being fired) No pressure! LMAO!!

The Black Keys “Psychotic Girl”. Sounded like a nice, soothing groove to learn.

Roots notes are pretty simple. On the E strong, slide G - A sharp - A - C then back to G, all while letting that string ring out. Ok, that’s easy enough. Each root notes gets highlighted with an octave.

On the A sharp, A and C notes there’s a little shuffle around the octave. That’s easy to enough to hit, but it’s extremely tiring after just a few phrases. I feel like this isn’t what they’re playing live at this was be too exhausting and technical to play live.

How do you play this song?

I had Influ-something for just over 2-weeks - of feeling like death.
Couldn’t take a minute off, working 12+ hour days, everyone on the jobsite is sick so it didn’t really matter. Veins pumped Nyquil/Dayquil instead of blood. One of the worst flus I have ever had. I feel like they keep getting worse and worse.

Ugh sorry man. This year’s is supposed to be the worst in a long time, and the influx of H5 isn’t helping either.

I’m still coughing up throat yogurt this week.

I’m really struggling with the finger roll technique. Especially playing root, fifth, octave arpeggios, playing the fifth and the octave by rolling my pinky.

I’m really surprised there hasn’t been a bassbuzz video on them specifically. I’m dying for an exercise to help me practice it. I think it would be a great video concept

A week and a half later and I am still coughing up lung gunk. Get your flu vaccines, folks - it’s nasty this year.

I’ve spent since Monday afternoon getting clobbered by the flu or COVID. I finally felt good enough to sit on a stool and play bass for 20 or 30 minutes today… and ended up a sweaty mess from that level of “exertion”.

Flu is no joke.

Oh wow. That’s awesome, and I didn’t even say thank you! Sorry man, I’ve been swamped with holiday stuff and didn’t see this. I’m sorry. But really, thank you very much. You don’t know how much I appreciate this !

Thanks again, and Happy New Year, sir!

No worries! Happy to help
Happy new year 2u2!

So here’s a potential struggle. I turned my rumble 40 around so that I can access the controls in the back. Do you think having it fire backwards and being under a desk is making it sound muddy/boomy instead of accurate and pleasing? I’ve even messed with EQ but it sounds like trash. I probably have to flip it back around I really don’t like this amp.

I have done the very same thing with my JBL EON 710 that sits next to my sofa playing position.

As it has it’s own DSP/EQ, I could just measure my playing position using REW (free software) and a UMIK-1 microphone.

The result is a very clean, non-boomy sound. It’s really excellent.
Also, cause the tweeter of the JBL is now not pointed at me, but reflects on the wall, it sounds much better in various playing positions.

If the Rumble 40 has EQ and you can measure the room and correct with EQ, I see no issue.
A cheap method to measure your room “reasonably” might be AudioTool for android.

I really like my Rumble 40. I have it facing me. I can access all its controls, no problem. It sounds great.

Thanks for the house curve suggestion! I’ll have to try it out. I’m also thinking of moving it out into the room and having it face at me which may lower the volume for the rest of the house.
I guess I just have to play with it.

Yea having it under the desk means I have to wheel it out and back and reach aalllll the way back there for power.

The cart I have it on works but isn’t too stable being moved so it’s a pain.

Easy fix: Plug the amp into a power strip that is easy to reach. Leave the amp’s power switch to ON, then flip the power strip ON/OFF as you need. :zap:

How is this played? In the guitar solo in Money by Pink Floyd there is an “X”. How do I manage the “X”.

Thanks in advance for comments.

It’s a ghost note. Just touch the string with your fretting hand, but just barely so it only makes a thudding sound when you pluck it. Don’t press down enough to sound a note.

Think of ghost notes as percussive sounds you use to play like a drum strike instead of a melodic tone.
