Not much Bass to be honest. I watched all 20 minutes but he didn’t mention music theory once.

All through the video he is talking about why you don’t need music theory and then in the last minute or so of the video he is plugging the Hook Music Theory course for $147.18.

Well yes, they’re the video sponsor so they kind of expect that sort of thing

And the actual point of the video is not that you don’t need theory, it’s that you already know pretty much all the theory you need from listening to music.

A lot of bassists have proved that you don’t need theory to be a bassist at some levels and in some genres, but I think it always helps and they would be an even better musician/bassist if they did. Knowing theory is not just a way of understanding but a way of communicating too.
