What I've learned from covers

There’s tons of amazing rap music. I can’t think of anything Chuck D has been involved with that was bad. Public Enemy in general is amazing.

NWA was fantastic and spawned some outstanding solo careers. Cube especially.

And yeah, Ice T and his crossover work; Run DMC and theirs. Tupac.

And, of course, the Beastie Boys.

For me, I’m not really in to Jazz, generally dislike a lot of the modern stuff, but can get in to R&B and Bebop just fine. Likewise, Country is not my thing but I certainly own me some Johnny Cash and old school Outlaw Country is interesting. And of course Punkabilly and Cowpunk are some of my favorites at times.

Folk can be good but Folk Punk is amazing.

etc.

Forgot about the Beastie Boys

Yeah. They are one reason I usually roll my eyes whenever anyone lets out a blanket “I don’t like any rap.”

Body Count was another good example though

Though Body Count is more straight metal I guess. Just with one of the most famous rappers leading it.

I mean, even Rap covers can be amazing. Rare (not a lot of rap covers) but amazing.

Tricky (English rapper and producer, he’s interesting himself) covering Public Enemy. The original song is outstanding too.

LOL Flav, haha. Yeah, another Public Enemy star.

I love the little thing he and Chuck D just pulled last year, pretending to feud to hide the fact they had some original material brewing.

The Beastie Boys are my ALL TIME FAVORITE band.
I love House of Pain too.
NWA
Ice-T and Body Count
Public Enemy
Run DMC
Prob a few others, but in the grand scheme of things, where some sort of Hip Hop / Rap makes up probably 50% of all music these days, I don’t listen to much.

HaHaHa
That is so NOT the Beastie Boys, even tho it is. LOL
Try
Alio O Eglio (or whatever that album is called, it is HARDCORE Punk)
Some Old BullShit!
Check Your Head
I’ll Communications
The last one they did
Hot Sauce Committee

They were musical geniuses, and EPIC by all rights.

Pam, I found the PERFECT Anthrax song for you to cover.
It is the hidden track on the album Vol. 8.

It is not really a thrash song, more of a rock ballad.
Written and sung by Frank, a tribute to his little brother that was murdered.
I think if you search for the hidden track on that album, you will agree, it is probably more Anthrax, your style.

Ha! I actually still listen to Hoochie Mama sometimes, just to laugh at the controversy it caused.

Times change
