Mainly as a practice tool. Drums, looper, tuner as alexmorrison14 mentioned. Headphone OUT is nice too and it’s easily moddable to add external footswitches for Patch Up, Patch Down, Tap Tempo, and Rhythm Start/Pause. Recently I’ve bought a Spark NEO tho. Wireless headphone amp, multieffect and even less to carry around.
Can put pedals in front of it, and also in an FX loop. In the patches you create, you can determine where the pedals in the loop will go in the chain via drag/drop. The HX does pretty much everything, but I have some specific pedals I like.
It has everything needed for recording. I can simultaneously record tracks with my full sound and just the DI. And since the patches are the same between this and the software version of Helix Native, I can just use that same patch with the DI and remix later.
It has all the inputs and outputs for re-amping and for doing neural captures (I use Tonex software with it).
Basically it’s tried and true, and does pretty much everything I want.
Line 6 Pod Express Bass for me at the moment. Primarily because I have zero experience with effects so wanted a bunch of different effects in a single, small, relatively cheap, package
I currently disable the Amp/Cab modelling, just playing with pedal effects, and run it into a Tonex One Bass for the Amp/Cab simulation. I suspect I’ll eventually upgrade it to a bigger and more fully featured unit, but I need to spend more time learning how to use effects first … though I do like shiny things …
make it +3 for the 90B… I like the ability to jump right to presets. And it does everything I could ever want. I recommend getting the Bluetooth adaptor so you can use your phone of an iPad to menu dive. I still gig with a slimmed down board- but the music room is ME-90B.
I’ve got the Katana 210. I still want to get an expression pedal and a GA-FC (probably the EX version) for it. I have the Bluetooth adapter already and a USB cable to connect to my PC. With those I can control all the effects from either phone or PC, as well as have it be a DAI for Reaper or other recording software. Right now my only actual pedal is a Polytune 3.
