Pam, you welcomed me when I first got here and I was delighted to see a Baddass Bass Girl. I think it was one of your last posts at the time though.
I feel like I know you however, from reading so many old threads (we share the same issues around playing sitting down) and definitely have learnt a lot from the excellent help and advice you have given over the years here. The recording tutorials especially.
I’m so sorry for what you and your family are going through, and I hate that that sounds so inadequate. Words are never right under these circumstances.
I hope you and Sara both find the strength you need to get through the days ahead.
This forum has provided an opportunity to meet and learn from folks I would otherwise - let’s be honest - never have met or potentially connected with. You are certainly one of them @PamPurrs
One of the main things I got to appreciate with you was your straight-shooter, no-bullshit, let’s-do-this attitude.
Here in Scandinavia, Pippi Långstrump (Pippi Longstocking) is a beloved literary character and one of her most famous quotes is: “I have never done this before! I think I should definitely be able to do this!”
Thinking of you @PamPurrs. I haven’t known you well, but that’s immaterial. You’ve had a marked, outsized influence on so many and are obviously and with good reason cherished, here and elsewhere. Wishing strength and comfort for you and Sara.
Dear Pam! I keep seen that one Kay bass that has a rose on it and thinking of you.
I just wanted to say hi and wish you and Sara lots of strength and special moments.
My thoughts are with you Pam. So very sorry that it doesn’t seem to be going so well. Yours was one of the first names that I started recognising as soon as I joined BazzBuzz with your helpful and friendly advice and you helped me feel welcome in this (to me still) strange world of making music.
I’m sorry to hear what you’ve been through and what you are currently experiencing. It also takes alot of willpower to post this as cancer treatments with everything else are draining to say the least.
Even though I’m not always incredibly active on the forum I always see you chiming in here and there in some way or another, leaving helpful hints and kindness along the way.
Inspite of everything that seems to be against you, I’ve seen/listened to how you play the bass and I’m honestly inspired to be as good as yourself one day (even if that day is far, far away).
Please take care of yourself as best you can and thank you for giving me and many others inspiration to continue despite the challenges life throws at you.
Hey Pam, never met you but I’ve been lurking around longer on this forum before becoming an active member…
Read many of your posts and contributions to this wonderful community we got here and you are certainly one of the “tastemakers “ (as we would say in dutch)
My thoughts are with you and your loved ones Dennis
Thank you everyone for your kind words. I’ve been battling with cancer since. 2018 and thought I was winning. I’ve had a good life and it must come to an end eventually. I’ve made some good friends here and in many ways this is my family.
