I just got the 100 as my first ‘real’ amp two days ago and it’s really loud, louder than I have yet uses for. I had turned it up to 50% and 75% volume respectively at work and everything was rumbling, the ceiling ground etc. It sounds really great. If I turn it down enough and reduce the bass its still silent enough so that my neighbors do not complain. Or they have yet to… ![]()
On mine I like to crank the bass up, use a low end pre amp on my pedal, tune to A, and just make stuff shake and rattle for no reason other than I can ![]()

I can max out my Rumble 100 in my spare room playing along with the radio. Admittedly, I shouldn’t have it so loud at times, but it’s not hard to max out. Also depends on the tone you’re using. Really bright tone with rounds, the 100 can make your ears bleed. Tapewounds with the tone rolled off sounding nice and thumpy, gotta crank the volume to hear it.
I actually like the sound of my Rumble 40 over the 100, but I can outrun the 40 real easy. Especially when not using bright tones. Both are too loud to be healthy for practicing daily at those levels, but if you’re taking about playing in a venue of any sort I would say the 100 would be an absolute minimum.
I love my 100, way more volume than I need.
Given that you can further boost it with pedals, even the Zoom series, you can get a lot of volume out of them
I’m kinda drunk so, grain of salt.
I had a rumble 100 and liked it, but you know, a drummer came along. I went ahead and got a Rumble Stage 800. I got a bluetooth cable replacement thing so I could turn up the volume to full, then walk to another part of my house and play. All I can say is that the cat HATED IT and the walls were shaking. It doesn’t weigh that much more. It comes with a bunch of built in pedal/cabsim options that I honestly don’t use. When I practice at home I set volume to 0, then creep up until I get sound, then it’s ready for practice. I think as bass players, sometimes, we need to assert ourselves when everyone is turning up the volume you need to be felt in the room more than heard. I got mine used and I haven’t looked back except… there was this 4x15 cab with an ampeg head in store. It was the exact sound I wished for but the cab alone was so f-ing heavy it had casters and I couldn’t justify the purchase because, WhoTF is going to carry that thing up a flight of stairs?
“A drummer came along.” Ha ha. I second that. I have a regular Rumble 800 with the 2 x 10 extension cab. It does everything from practice in the living room while the wife is watching TV to blowing the roof off the house and it’s light. I play with some guitar players, a drummer, and a tuba guy in the neighborhood and I just bring the combo amp (29 lbs) and it’s more than enough for backyard practice. The extension cab (39 lbs) gives you the full 800 watt output if you’re trying to bang. There’s a nice quarter output toggle that I use for home practice that knocks it down to 100 watts (a quarter of the 400 for just the combo amp). I think aficionados will say it’s not the most amazing sounding amp (which is true) but, for the price, weight, and ability to have a one amp fits all kit, I’m really happy with mine. More ceiling than I’ll ever need so, theoretically, I have no ceiling and it covers all the volumes I need.
I also have the regular Rumble 800 for all the same reasons. 29 lbs.!!! I also have a 40 as a practice amp. A Spark Mini is also fun for practicing
christmas is over, no rumble in my stocking, so im going to look for one myself now (uk based).
ive taken on the advice about v3 of the 100 being the goto model. i cant see any mention is this being a v3, so is it an older model, or should i just assume that all new 100s will be the v3?
thanks
Yes. The so-called “v3” Rumbles were first released 11 years ago. Any new Rumble will of course be a “v3”. They are cash cows for Fender, so I don’t expect a “v4” any time soon.
V1 2003-2010
V2 2010-2014
V3 2014-today
4 x 15??? Holy hell that must have been huge. I only know that Lemmy played Marshall cabs that big ![]()
thanks for the info. it would have been nice if there was a sale on somewhere but i guess i’ll just have to bite the bullet, and the thomann amp seems to be the cheapest id get it new.
thanks
Rumbles sell so well, that there’s almost never a sale on them, so whatever an online company like Thomann lists it for, that’s likely to be the price. There’s the used market, which can sometimes be good, and sometimes be risky. I’ve spent a LOT of money at Thomann and have always gotten great service. If there’s any issue at all, they take care of it. That makes buying new worth it to me.
Drunk again… yes, it was awesome! There’s no way I could justify getting it. I’m not on a huge stage playing to thousands. More like, playing to dozens… ;(
This. I just looked at 4 different stores - two big names and two locals - and they all had the Rumble 100 at the same price.
I bought mine with an emailed 15% off couple from GC. May not be an option for those not in the US, however.
Some folks across the canal behind my house often have loud parties going past midnight (Most annoying music). I made a decision to step beyond my Rumble 100 tonight for back patio playing in the future! Maybe the Rumble 800 stage with the extension cab? Death metal all the way!
EDIT: ignore, i got my guitar centre and guitarguitar mixed up ![]()
Interesting, so my Rumble 75 is a V1 or V2, but I cannot find a date on it. It was manufactured in Korea.
