Question:
What would help a craigslist ad to be attractive?
I am wondering what kind of an ad to place on craigslist regarding a winter project. What should I add? What should I pass on? What would make you reply? Is craigslist even worth the time? When does it become too wordy? Should I just place “bass player seeks band”?
Any advice would be welcomed. Any stories would be helpful.
If I’m looking for a bassist for my band, I would want to know what genres and experiences you have.
10 years gigging experience bars and restaurants playing classic rock, funk, prog, etc. or cover band top 40s R&B, Jazz. P Bass, Jazz bass, MM, 4 string and 5 strings.
Playing sample available.
Then I can contact you and ask for sample see if it jives.
This was a message I sent to several guitarist on BandMix.
Context: four piece band. The guitarist moved on in July, much to our disappointment. So either the band folded, or we found a new one.

Hi xxxx, we have a fledgling covers band going and need a guitarist. Musical focus is a real eclectic mix 60s to 00s, and while we have a desired setlist, there plenty of opportunity to shape it. Ambition is to get good enough for pub gigs.
There are three of us, xxxx on vocals, xxxx on drums and me on bass.
Do you fancy a chat?

I probably sent this to 15’ish guitarist, got 5 replies and we now have a new bandmate - the first practice with him was last week, which went well. In BandMix, you can narrow people down by age, gender, distance, preferred musical genre and skill level.
Note: my BandMix profile includes links to covers on my YouTube account, so people could see my standard of playing, plus also some cr@ppy iPhone videos of the band.
