What would you do?

Would you sell the one on the right to purchase something in the price range on the left knowing they’re value is equivalent?

Without a doubt.

You have to ask yourself which of those two things will appreciate over time. The Old Weller definitely will. The vast majority of basses do not.

A relatively expensive bass is not necessarily magic, nor maybe even “special.” On the other hand, some basses are completely unique and very special.

Everyone’s mileage of a given bass’s value varies, with different players having differing opinions of whether a particular brand/model is worth its high price tag.

Personally, I would store the Old Weller in a safe place to further appreciate in value. Then, if I were to need a new bass, I’d get my hands and ears on as many basses as possible before deciding on the one that fit me best. Just my $.02.

I would sell the one on the right and buy three basses and an amp rig. :sunglasses:

I’d be more tempted to drink the Old Weller, impulse-buy the Lakland, have both and be out $6k

After drinking the Old Weller, buying the $3K Lakland wouldn’t be an impulse as much as it would be a “damn good idea!”

That’s how it works, yeah

@howard LMAO

This is tough because I bought and drank a $1500 bottle of wine before :joy:

I’d definitely choose the red pill on the left this time though.

You can enjoy a bass a lot longer than you can a bottle of whiskey.

@faydout Very true!

Again, vintage Old Weller will continue to go up in value. Most basses won’t.

I stopped drinking alcohol 4.5 years ago, and whiskey, probably 20 years ago… So no brainer…!

I’d sell off the Old Weller, but wouldn’t even look at that bass. I’d start off by repairing the brake, oil, and AC coolant leaks on my van. Then I’d upgrade my bass amp. The rest I’d put aside for whatever else.

I would sell the bottle (don’t drink alcohol anyway) and buy several Harley Bentons, mod everything … and post the story here :slight_smile:
Oh, and also I would get the Reverend Dub King in Avocado green!

Drink the Lakland and swap the Old Weller for a Ricky and a Marshall Amp.

Am I doing this right?
